Unsure what degree to do...

I'm starting Year 13 next week and I'm doing A-level biology, chemistry, maths and further maths. I have no idea what i want to do for uni, I do well at college but I haven't found a career/course that appeals to me. I got A's in my last mocks and I wanted to know if there are any options that I haven't thought of yet. I definitely want to go to uni next year, I don't want to do any apprenticeships or take a gap year.
With those A levels you are spoilt for choice:

Engineering
Medicine/ Dentistry
Economics
Business Studies
Any science subject e.g. Chemistry or Biosciences
Maths
Computer science
Law

Computer science is a very different field from say Economics or Medicine. You really need to speak to friends and family and teachers - people who know you well - to seek their input on what they think you would enjoy.
wow, i didn't even know law was an option! I don't think it's something I could ever do but its very cool to know that it's out there 🙂 I'll look into the other subjects, thanks for the advice!

Hey, I hope you are well!

I think the main thing around this is maybe try and go out of your way and learn consistently and enjoy your studies and maybe see if you are passionate in any area or subject. By doing this it can give you an opportunity to gauge what you love doing and what you maybe find promising for a degree.

Also, make sure to pursue and enjoy your hobbies outside of university! They can always translate to societies or they may even lead to a good course for you.

I hope that helps!

I did a quiz on career explorer which really helped me as at the end it gives job/degree suggestions which are tailored to how you answered. It is a bit long I will say (around 30 mins) but I didn’t have a clue on what I wanted to do, to then deciding to go for my top option on there at uni, so I’d recommend it even to just have a look what you get!

Hi, indignant-fever

I hope you are well!😊

I can see that you've had lots of good suggestions on here, but thought I'd jump on and contribute too!

I didn't know what I wanted to do when I was in my first year of Sixth Form, but after starting, I found that I really enjoyed my subjects (Psychology, Sociology and Criminology), and here I am going into my third year doing Social Science! So, you may find that one/a few of your subjects take your interest more, and this might be a good starting point for degree searches, or just having a look at whats out there! And with your A-levels I'm sure there will be lots of choice as others have suggested!

It may also be worth speaking to teachers, tutors or career advisors, if you have one at your Sixth From, because I found this really helpful when applying to university, as they gave me support with writing my personal statement, navigating UCAS, and what to look for when choosing the right degree for me.

I hope this is helpful! 🙂
Good luck with your studies and university degree searches!
