How to study for English Literature GCSE AQA?

I don't know where to start or how to study for it... I want to get a grade 7.

I am doing Macbeth, A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls and Love and Relationships.

Any advice would be much appreciated, thank you.
I did Macbeth, Boy's don't cry, and conflict. I would recommend that you watch loads of YouTube videos about the books, (even if they are not for your exam board they can still help when it comes to quotes, analysis and summaries). Learn from these videos and take sentences and quotes you like. I'd start by making quote flashcards for themes, quotes and characters. Additionally, you can memorise sentences to use throughout the paragraph to explain your point. Context is very important for all of the books and poetry although sometimes you can struggle to find varied context for macbeth. My favorite youtube channel for english was the light up hub as even though i wasn't doing the exam board that was in the majority of their videos, i was still able to get loads of useful information. Hope this helps, let me know if you have any more questions

forgot to mention also: your teachers might tell you that doing practice questions is the only way to revise for english... This isnt true in my experience. I hated doing practice questions and the teachers in my school were really harsh markers. Whilst this can be helpful for tips of how to change your essay, i wouldnt always rely on their grade as what you will get. English is very subjective. I had friends in the top set who hhad never got below an 8 whereas when it came to results day they were all disappointed because they got 6s and lower. On the other hand I had friends who never got above 4 but got 6s for the actual thing.

Thank you so much for your help! Your advice is really helpful. 🙂
Although, I am now slightly worried that I will end up with a low grade because of harsh examiners...

Examiners should all be quite far and they mark it by question rather than paper (so usually each examiner will have a different question rather than one doing the whole paper) this means if one of them is harsh you won’t entirely get bad grades. There’s also the option to have them remarked (I’ve just sent my English back) and whist many people would be afraid too because of the cost, you get it all back if the mark changes. I wouldn’t worry to much about the examiners because that’s out of our control. Focus on what you can and you’ll be fine 😉

This is so reassuring, thank you so much!
