What’s your “type”?

If you don’t mind sharing, please state your gender and orientation.

I realize it’s a pretty open-ended question, but I’m asking it this way because I literally still have zero experience with love or sex whatsoever, and I don’t want to sound dumb on here.

I also wonder if any of you might have a different “type” for short-term/hookup/one-night relationships than for dating/long-term relationships? If so, why?

I'm female and straight (I think anyway)🤔 I don't tend to do much in terms of flings, but been in a longer term relationship (2+ years), as well as a short term one (4/5 month). I can try and list some things that come to mind.

My type.. well I've discussed it jokingly with work colleagues or friends but if I had to point out themes or actually what I would like to see in a partner:
Personality

Definitely a nerd in some way - sharing some interests in anime, games, comics, or even books/poetry

A sense of humour - honestly though I prefer some mischief or spontaneity too. I can be quite silly, so would appreciate someone who finds that fun too.

Chatty, easy to talk to... also not boring in conversation🤣. I hate small talk.. well not all of it... but I like to have deep conversations or go on random funny tangents, etc.

Intelligent... in way they can enjoy puzzles, poetry/reading, converse meaningfully about media or things we can enjoy together... but I don't need Einstein.

Thoughtful and considerate, especially without being asked to. This is something I see as quite important, as my long term ex-boyfriend could be kind and empathetic, but did show less of this towards me. Someone who respects my boundaries 🙂

Self-awareness (something I want to see more)

Physical aspects

Preferably brunette

Some facial hair is cool, or none at all... but not a full on bushy beard. Its too itchy :frown:

I'm more on the side of having shorter hair in a boyfriend, but wouldn't mind a bit longer if it was styled nicely. Like if it was swishy curls 😉

I prefer more cute in the face than like.. really masculine.

I do find myself liking glasses (phwoar) but not absolutely needed in the ensemble.

Taller than me (5ft, 2in) but not much additional height needed.

Not too thin, I do need something to cuddle. I'm not stick thin myself, so muscles and thin only would make me self-conscious.

😉 Nice butt would be nice, oooh and good shoulders.

I'm really guilty with having a double standard with guys I like for a relationship vs hookups.

I'm female, straight, blonde (stereotypically so).

I really like kind, thoughtful guys for romance or dating; the kind of guys you can take home to meet your parents.

But when it comes to a hookup I do like a more dark menacing type haha.

Maybe one day I'll find a man who is the perfect balance.

I'm curious as to what makes a set of shoulders "good" or "bad"? Lol.
Type A I think, I'll have to double check with my doctor tho

A lot of folks have asked what I mean by good shoulders.. 🫣 It's hard to describe because I'm not actively that bothered about finding somebody. But I suppose the kind of shoulders that are broader.. sturdy and fun to hold 🤣 I'm not even talking muscle or body building because I've never found men who love the gym attractive..

Would you only date Asians cus of your parents or your choice? I know for some cultures it's really important to be with someone within that culture. Obviously that's not the same as white people just being racist. I'm from a very white area of the countryside so I don't have many options yet lol

cool i’m east asian too! (chinese specifically) is your girlfriend also east asian, or south asian?

i don’t have much of a type in terms of appearance i don’t think, maybe a bit of a preference but nothing i can really think of a way to put into words concretely. as for personality i’m quite shy and reserved myself, not too flashy or outgoing, so i guess i would also prefer someone who’s more of a humble person too. this is all conjecture tho, and maybe i would find that i like just the opposite…idk really 😕
she chinese and probably much smarter than me
i dont like her mum tho
oh thats cool!
