8 classes! in the equivalent of high school we only do lk 2-4 classes. dy have like a big exam after middle school? for us GCSEs (taken 15-16) are actually the stuff u use to apply for jobs

anyways how does that work, how many classes do you have a day? how long do you spend in each one?

i’m surprised that students are taking job exams at 15/16, here high schoolers would only have a part-time job at most. and then usually either get a full-time job after turning 18 or go to university at that point.

in middle school, for us we had about 6 to 8 periods per school day and schedules were usually weekly. so we had maybe a dozen or so different classes each year, some of them only once a week, others daily, and some in between (like 2 or 3 periods every week).

I'm at a girls school. I have to sneak out to meet guys... 🤭

that’s so cool, when and how often do you sneak out?

i have no idea how this works but it is super interesting, because it was never really even a realistic option for me…my parents were extremely strict and i would’ve gotten into soo much trouble if i ever tried something like that lol

r u doing a-levels now? is it a grammar school? i meet my gf as we both need to go to the train station to gegt home after schools so even tho we go different schools we still get 2gthr

that’s rly nice, public transit is almost nonexistent here especially down in america. i don’t think i’ve ever heard of anyone taking a train to school before 🤯

so i had 7 periods a day and we operated ona 2-week schedule in 'middle school'. i had maths, english, biology, chem, physics, history, mandarin, anciend histiry and p.e as exam subjects along with Religion and extra stuff. i had 45 minute periods. i got actually deccent gcses (9 is top, 4 is pass)
maths, english lang. history ancient history mandarin 9
p.e chem bio phys 8
religion 7
high school (16-18) is basically just for uni
what age are u guys? i have no idea what that level would be equivalent to over here 🙈

its pretty awful tho. i have to get up at 6:20 and catch the 7:14 train. its pretty often late but its quite handy if u want to meet freinds after school or i i wanna hang out with my gf i can just say i missed the train

gcses are year 11 so 16 year olds do them

nah so u only have one big exam 😲.what if u fumble it can u retake it?

not rly, so those tests were only for getting into a particular high school program and ppl don’t rly take it anywhere as seriously as they do with university admissions. entrance into those programs is primarily based on middle school grades anyway. and our school board did a very controversial thing where as long as you surpassed a minimum mark you would get put into a lottery for spots, and your chances of getting in would be the same as with every other student who also cleared the same bar. so yeah it was def kinda a weird system for sure

it really can’t be much worse than mine haha, at least what i was going on a few years ago (right after i moved out of home)
for high school entrance, mostly u just use gcses.
for secondary school entrance, you have to take a separate exam called 11+ or 13+

congrats, u did super well!

is PE physical education? how do you even write an exam for that 🤯

i’m shocked you got to pick mandarin as a class option, even in high school we could only choose to take the official languages (english and french) and in my case english was compulsory all 4 years and french the first 2.

thanks 🙂 so basically in p.e there is a written examination and a practical. for the practical it's like sprints and also you document progress of sports of your choice. The written is theory a bit like biology such as what is this muscle. Ye I'm rlly Lucky I get to do mandarin it saved me a lot of time not having to study
