Computer Science at Churchill?

I am currently in the process of selecting a college for my Cambridge application. I visited a few colleges including Churchill during the open days and liked it quite a lot. I'm applying for computer science and have heard that applying for cs at Churchill is like applying for maths at Trinity where competitive applicants risk missing out.

I have a very strong profile, however with 11 grade 9s at gcse and 4 A at AS level and 4a* (maths, fm, cs, physics) predicted at a level. Aiming for 32+/40 in tmua. Do you think it makes more sense for me to apply elsewhere as I don't want to hurt my chances by something self-controlled like college choice.

Thanks.

It makes best statistical sense to apply to a College that consistently has the fewest direct applications. or you could look a the highest ratio of applicants to offers.

Or apply to the college you like since there is a pool system and you'll be living there for three or four years of your life.

True, but pooling only happens if you've got an interview in the first place. There are some combo's of College and subject where you can seriously reduce your chances of even getting to interview, and I'd suggest Churchill/CompSci, is in that bracket - though I haven't checked the data.

The Colleges do interview as many as they can, in order to maximise the effect of the pool, but there is an absolute capacity limit for how many interviews they can do in the time available.

Also, this idea that there's a magic fit between you and your College, I appreciate that when you are 17/18 and probably leaving home for the first time, it seems like this. However, I think pretty much everyone who is out the other side of Cam would agree that, while they are proud of their College and enjoyed their time there, they would be saying the same thing if they went to any of 20 other Colleges. Very, very few of us are so moulded at 17/18 that we genuinely have a specific environment we need to live in. Lots of things we want, but every single College has the things we need.
