My father is forcing me to take Medicine

My father is pressuring me to do medicine for the past 3 years and I genuinely do not want to as it’s not in my interest. I have been telling him I do not want to do medicine yet he tells our family and friends that I’m keen on doing it when I am really not. Unfortunately he doesn’t understand my choices and my wishes. I picked my AS/A Levels a few weeks back (Physics , Econ, Business) and surprise, he isn’t happy with them. He does not want to talk to me and has texted my mother calling me an “embarrassment” and that I have “embarrassed him (my father)” as I haven’t followed “his” wishes and the path he wanted me to follow.

I haven’t talked to my father for around 3 weeks, and I just don’t know how to talk to him. He hasn’t been active in my studies for years yet he wants to control what I do.

Honestly I just need some advice to deal with this situation.

Thank you.
Just ignore him. Do what you want to do. Don’t feel pressured to do something your not passionate about. Also if he’s not speaking to you that just demonstrates his pettiness. The fact that he hasn’t even been present in your educational life is appalling so he shouldn’t tell you to choose medicine.

You go stand up for yourself! only you should have a say in what you do. What he said about you is embarrassing, the guy sounds like an ********, a f***ing tool. You can and will be successful in whatever you choose and he should be the first to support you. Do you have someone close you could confide in?
