Chemistry ions question

hey! pls can someone help me with this? I now know the answer is 6 but I have no idea how to get it.
Common table salt is an ionic compound called sodium chloride. Give the number of chloride ions that are in contact with each sodium ion.

Hi, try and draw a ball and stick model of the compound, and you should end up with something like this:

Imagine the green ion in the centre is your sodium ion - if you look closely, it's in contact with 6 different purple chloride ions.
ohhh. That makes more sense! Thank you for your help!
