How exactly are marks awarded in BMO??

Ive heard from people that've already done the bmo that sometimes even if you get the answer right, they don't give you the marks. I know its probably to do with the process/working out. But could someone give me examples of what kind of inaccuracy in the working out would cause marks to be lost

they say "One complete solution will gain more credit than several unfinished attempts". i would say to make sure that the solutions you have are completely right
the kind of inaccuracy that would end up losing marks even if you have the right answer would be if you don't prove something vital to the result that is non-trivial. or if you make some assumption that is incorrect. it is less lenient than your standard A-Level questions

UKMT publish Markers reports - here's an example: https://bmos.ukmt.org.uk/home/bmo1-2024-report.pdf
