SFE Chilcare Grant confusion!

Wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation to me or can offer any advice!

I'm 28 and starting my PGCE course tomorrow! I live with my partner and our 1 year old.

On the 9th of August I received my entitlement letter for student maintenance loan, I spoke to someone from SFE about my childcare grant and they said it had been awarded and I should receive a letter with the details in two working days

After not hearing anything I've spoken to two different people over the last month who have both said they've put the request through for my grant again,

After not receiving anything again I spoke to someone from SFE today and they said although the grants team have awarded the grant my household income looks like it's over the threshold! they are sending it off to the assessors to see if it's correct.

I'm really panicking as my daughter starts her childminder on Thursday! (grant was supposed to be valid from yesterday) We confirmed the dates and paid a £700 deposit when we were told it had been awarded on the 9th!

Can they just change their minds? even if they've made a mistake, we've made financial choices off of these mistakes!

If I don't get the childcare grant it eats up over 80% of my loan and I might have to look at leaving my course.

Has anyone qualified for a childcare grant even if they've been over the threshold
HI there,

If your household income is over the threshold to be eligible for the Childcare Grant then you will not be eligible for the funding. If the household income is £19,795.23 or above then you will not get the Childcare Grant.

Thanks, Drew

Hi Drew,

Thanks for your reply.

If that's the case then do you know why I've been told that it's been awarded initially

thanks
