help

So I got really bad in my a levels (CCD) due to personal circumstances and was hoping to apply to Pharmacy this year which unfortunately couldn't happen. I was planning to take a gap year and resit all three a levels but after checking with Uni of Leicester and DMU (the two unis I'm considering applying to), Uni of Leicester only take two resits maximum and DMU don't accept them at all. There is a foundation pharmacy course at DMU which I do meet the requirements for but it's completely full for this year and I don't want to waste two years. If anyone can give any advice it would be highly appreciated.

If you resat two A level (which Leicester will accept), and ended-up with As in them (so AAC overall), then technically you wouldn't meet Leicester's ABB requirement, but you might be in with a shot. Other than that, the fact that you're limiting yourself to just two unis (presumably because you want to stay near home) is the real issue here. If you were prepared to look at other unis, you might have more options.

Yeah it's a bit of an issue, I'm purely looking at unis in my hometown as it would just be easier, as if I looked at unis outside of it I would have to commute.

Well, then you're options are extremely limited - as you have established.

I'd consider moving away for your studies if you really want to study pharmacy.
Although if you can apply for the foundation course for 2025 entry, that's only wasting one year surely?

Yeah that's true at least I would be in university working towards the degree.

There’s still time to try to get onto a course for this year if you want

De montfort university 🙂

I see, I received similar grades as you, and couldn't find a suitable uni to study mpharm via clearing . So would be glad if we could keep in touch to bring our grades up this yr .
Do you know what other unis accept retake 3 a levels?

Same clearing was so stressful, and yeah that would be great it's nice to have someone in the same boat. Aston University in Birmingham accept retakes I think with an ABB-BBB offer.

Oh yeah I can imagine, do you have any unis in mind then
Have you communicated with DMUs onboarding team , they were very good with myself not having the entry requirements and they took other factors into consideration. Having lived in the midlands and choosing to go to a midlands uni I know how you mean about wanting to stay near home.

Your a levels aren’t bad grades either

Have your tried Wolverhampton for pharmacy, they may allow you onto the course with those grades. However the lowest I heard anyone get in with was BCD. So if not then they may be able to offer you a foundation year. Good Luck x
