How do you get 30/30 on the poetry anthology question?

I didnt do aqa so my poetry questions were out of 20 and I frequently got 19/20 on them so here’s a few tips:

make sure to analyse language, form and structure (talk about the type of poem and the rhythm, title etc as well as language techniques)

Use language of possibility (the poet could be, might be, it could be interpreted as) to show youre considering multiple meanings and considering the poet’s intentions

Cover a range of points and follow a clear structure (preferably chronological or with a clear point per paragraph)

Do close analysis for all your quotations: multiple techniques, connotations, words individually, focus on impacts on the reader and meaning (can help to explode quotations)

Consistently link back to the question and focus on it throughout your essay

Include a thesis statement

I made a full essay plan for each poem (all 15 lol) in my anthology so I could get to work very quickly and know all the themes, I memorised at least 3 quotations and all the techniques for each plus all the form, structure and meaning stuff for each poem which took ages but made exam questions a lot easier

For form make sure you know the features of different types of poem so you can link to them if you use them

Hope that helps a little
