Hey all, I’m Danny! I’m excited to getting to know you all!

1) Geograhy, biology and environmental science

2) bsc hons forestry, as I love the modules and out of everything I love in the natural world, trees fascinate me the most and the idea that forestry incorporates geography, geology, biology, chemistry and environmental science makes the subject very versatile and engaging with the many field trips being offered.

3) I’d rather not say my GCSE grades as they were all average, but I’m predicted A-levels wise AAB.

4) I adore the variety in the landscape in Bangor, from the coast to the mountains and forests, it allows for people who love the outdoors to truly explore to their hearts content, and for a person who likes silence, the place is very quiet due to the small population and plus, as I want to ideally go and do research in forests as a career, Bangor excels at providing world leading research.

5) Thankfully none

6) I only attended the one last Sunday on the 13th October

7) I’m a bit scared, mainly of what my flatmates will be like as preferably I don’t want to end up with people who can’t pull their weight in doing basic chores and having basic manners of being quiet and respectful for when people in the hall either want to be left alone or simply need peace and quiet studying or even just to sleep.

8 ) I did look at the only other universities that offered traditional forestry degrees (UHI +Cumbria), but honestly I really want to go to Bangor ideally.

Hey! I'm Ianto

1) I'm doing Maths, Computer Science and Biology at A-level
2) Biomedical Science, I'm a little too obsessed with cells and everything to be normal about it haha and love the varied paths it can take you
3) I did very well in GCSEs, not entirely sure what I'm predicted at Alevel apart from an A for Biology.
4) everyone I talked to at the open day seemed to love it, I can do Welsh lessons on the side and got great gibes from the facilities (and i don't mind it not having huge amounts to do because I'm not very social!)
5) none (but now this has been asked I'm stressing if I've missed something!)
6) attended an open day at the end of October!
7) I'm awful about making decisions so deciding on what uni and course is the most stressful part! And also all the social bits that come with moving out and into student housing.
8 ) also looking at York, Kent, Exeter and UEA. Bangor is the lowest grade requirements but also just felt right for me when I was there (bonus points for it being in Wales!)

Hi Ianto!

Your passion for Biomedical Science really comes through—it’s such an exciting field with endless possibilities, and it sounds like you’re absolutely on the right track. I actually studied Biomedical Science myself and then went on to do a PhD in the School of Biological Sciences at UEA. The course here is incredibly practical, giving you hands-on experience from the start, and the department is globally recognised for its research and teaching quality.

UEA’s facilities are fantastic, and the course really prepares you for a wide range of career paths, whether you’re interested in research, healthcare, or something entirely different.

If you’d like to know more about UEA or the city, feel free to reach out!

Best,
Daniel

Hiii, I'm Madi!

I'm currently studying Animal Management at college but the Science pathway.

I have 3 offers from Bangor - but my main course interest is Marine Biology and Zoology because I love the combination of both industries, I adore all animals but do especially favour the ocean and its ecosystems and believe that this industry could result in plenty more job opportunities in the future due to climate change and global warming!

my GCSE's were mainly average so no point mentioning lol, however currently predicted DDD for my Animal Course.

Since first discovering what I wanted to do and Bangor, I felt drawn to Bangor, and after the open day I realised I belonged there, the facilities for marine and biological sciences was amazing. The students seemed like they enjoyed it and I feel like it has a mix of good people and great vibes!

No exams required! Yay

Already attended an Open Day in June and loved it! Also attending the applicant day in February to get a better look at accommodation and more.

I am so excited yet nervous at the same time, I feel like it will be an amazing new start and can't wait to make new friends and moving out into my own little room with others but I will definitely miss home.

I have also been interested in Chester and Myerscough but overall I do prefer Bangor!

Heyaa,
I'm Evelyn (most people just call me Evie)
1) I am taking Biology, Chemistry and Maths
2) I want to study Biomedical science because it's such a cool subject and I really like the idea of being able to work in a lab someday! I would probably specialise further after my Bsc though (not sure in what yet)
3) I am currently predicted ABC grades in my subjects, however I've recently been achieving Bs in the subject with a predicted C so who knows...
4) I come from quite a busy town so the idea of studying in a slightly quieter and more lowkey place was quite appealing to me. When I visited on an open day, I really liked the atmosphere at Bangor and I felt as though I would enjoy studying here. The Biomed course also looked great! The campus was also very pretty in comparison to the other unis I've looked at.
6) I went to an open day last summer and thought the university was great.
7) I think I'm looking forward to uni. Obviously it's a tad scary, mainly because I highly doubt that anyone I know will be studying at Bangor which means that I'll have to step out my comfort zone more in order to meet new people. (Also, the idea of ending up with flatmates who can't wash up after themselves is pretty terrifying)
8) I've applied to Bournemouth and Kent alongside Bangor, but Bangor is my top choice!

Hiya, My name is Isabel.

1.

I did Music, History and English Lit for A level, last June (took a gap year) and got AAB. I also have my Grade 8 piano with distinction, and am working on my diploma which is in March.

2.

I have applied for History and Music BA, just waiting for offers to come through now.

3.

I got 4A*s, 4As and a B at GCSE - I'm from NI so we still have letter grades.

4.

I chose Bangor, because I liked the course and it isn't offered particularly widely, plus the campus is lovely.

5.

I don't have to sit any tests, but I'm debating going for a merit scholarship for music.

6.

I attended the open day in November, and would heartily recommend if you are not entirely sure about Bangor, or indeed, any university for that matter.

7.

I do feel quite nervous about starting uni, specifically the financial side and self-sufficiency side, any tips on how to become university ready would be much appreciated.

8.

I also applied to Glasgow, Southampton, Sheffield and Liverpool Hope university.

Best wishes to everyone with upcoming mocks and examinations,
God Bless x

Hi I'm Ash
I did a level 3 diploma in computing, I'm still not really sure why I didn't do nature or animal course and chose computing; but oh well, an extra year of uni will be nice as it gives me a chance to settle and hopefully make friends. I would like to do zoology at Bangor however as a result of not doing animal courses at A level I will have to do a foundation year ☹️ I did get an offer though so I am following through with it. I would like to go to Bangor due the remoteness of the city, I currently live in London and the hustle and bustle is a little much for me. I currently volunteer at London Zoo which is fun however I struggle with loud crowds and dealing with tourists. Bangor has so much to give whilst being a relatively quiet place surrounded by nature. As well as this, it seems so welcoming.
I am attending a offer holders placement day 21-23rd Feb where I will be staying in the management center as I did before. It is cozy enough and I do recommend it to anyone else. I would hope to make some connections with fellow classmates on this weekend!!!
I am extremely nervous about starting uni and will probably go for a room with a kitchenette as I have anxiety + AUdhd which makes sharing things with other people often hard as well as needing my own space very often. I am nervous about being social and making friends as I do want to do it.
In terms of other unis, I loved Bangor as it seemed amazing and I went to multiple open days at various places and they were all scary places - just didn't seem as welcoming.

sorry for the incoherant mess of my paragraph. good luck all with offers etc

Congratulations on your offers. How long did it take for the offers to come through after applying?
I have heard from the other universities I applied for, but Bangor is my number 1 choice and I am just constantly refreshing my UCAS page waiting for their response. Just trying to manage my expectations lol

Thank you. UCAS sent my applications on the 14th December - all the other universities got back to me on the Monday. I figured Christmas would delay things, and I know I'm just being impatient lol but this is my dream university!!!

Hi I’m Fin!

1) A Level Bio, A level Chem and OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Certificate Sport and Exercise Science
2) Zoology with animal management, I just have to work with animals I love the natural world so much
3) Predicteds in same order as subjects written above; A*,A, Distinction
4) Bangor for me is such a great choice with the beautiful location, teaching quality and Steve backshall!
5) All I know is I’ve asked my referee to sit the Bangor merit exam
6) Unfortunately not it really isn’t feasible as I lack a car and live in Bournemouth!
7) Excited
8) Reading, Aberystwyth, Exeter and Sussex

I was hoping you guys could recommend me the best way to eventually get my stuff there from Bournemouth and if just carrying ALOT of bags on the train with my dad really is the best plan. And is there anywhere my parents could sleep the night on drop off day as the train takes such a crazily long time to get back to Bournemouth or if we will have to work under a time crunch and get the bags to accom and get them/just my dad back to the train station in time to get back to Bournemouth before midnight😂

1.

I'm currently studying Applied Science, Business, Psychology, and an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ).

2.

I’m hoping to study Midwifery at Bangor University. I’ve always been passionate about supporting women and I believe Midwifery is the perfect way for me to make a real difference in people’s lives.

3.

I’m predicted a Distinction in Applied Science, a A in Psychology, and a B in Business.

4.

Bangor University is my top choice because of its incredible location. I love the area with its beautiful beaches and mountains. I’ve visited Bangor a few times already, and it honestly feels like a second home to me. Plus, the bursary scheme suits my plans for after I finish studying, and the facilities, especially the simulation suite, are something I’m really looking forward to using during my training.

5.

I hope to attend the applicant's day once I get an offer, though I’ve already booked myself in for one.

6.

I’m genuinely excited about the possibility of studying at Bangor. It’s definitely my top choice, and I really hope I get in. The university and the area feel like the right place for me, and I can definitely see myself living there for the next few years while I study.

7.

While I’m excited about the opportunities at other universities, Bangor is definitely my top choice because of its unique location, great facilities, and the sense of community I feel when I'm there.

Hi all!

I'm Heather, seems like i'm the only mature student in this thread so far haha.
I'm 24 and did an Access to HE course in Business Management.
I have a conditional offer for Accounting and Finance! Though I already have my grades from my Access course and my only condition for my offer was to send in proof of qualification so I'm tentatively hopeful about my chances.
I'm also hoping I'll be able to do a year abroad as part of my degree
I haven't been to an open day because it is a looong journey from where I live but I love what I've seen of the place even through a computer screen. I love nature and was really hoping to go to a smaller town uni. Big cities aren't really my cup of tea.
My second choice is Aberystwyth.

Good luck to everyone doing their A-levels!
