alevels for engineering

I want to pursue engineering in the future (not sure on which field to go exactly yet but leaning towards chem eng or mechatronics). I have chosen chemistry maths and economics for my alevel options and was wondering if I have a strong chance of doing engineering with these subjects (as some unis prefer if physics is included). Also if physics is recommended, should i do a physics online alevel course alongside going to a 6th form (if so is this going to affect me during exam period as there may be clashes between my exam timetables etc). btw most of the unis i would like to go are in london such as ucl and imperial. also my school wont let me do physics as I was 1 mark off a 7...

Engineering is ultimately an applied physics degree, so it is generally the preferred science. Chemical engineering will often accept chemistry & maths as an alternative.

My recommendations generally are maths, further maths, physics. I think you’ll find opportunities to study chemical engineering at university as you have chemistry & maths, i think without physics you’ll be much more restricted with mechatronics choices.
