I graduated a few years ago with a degree in Biology with Economics and Psychology as my other first year subjects. I've lived in Sallies, Uni Hall, Andrew Melville Hall and a few days in DRA.

Every year I look back at this forum (and in particular the 'bloodbath' of rejections that occurs every year between March and May) to provide as best advice I can to help prospective students, so let me know if you have any Qs 🙂

Update: Just 3 days later on the 20th, after confirming my settlement status, my application's status was changed from "checking application" to "pending review." Hopefully, this is a good sign 🤞

i imagine they will have a register but tbh it doesn't really matter if you can't go inside the facilities. all of the best things about st andrews - university, town and coast - you can see from the outside... inside the faculty buildings and halls (aside from bits here and there) St Andrews is not much different to any other uni

Hi! I'm an international student from Australia, and I have sent in my application on the 23rd of September! Excited to see others interested in applying to St Andrews!

What A Levels are you doing (or other eligible qualifications)?
I'm taking the HSC, and the courses I am doing are: Modern History, Ancient History, History Extension, English Extension, English Advanced, Maths Advanced and German Continuers.

What course at St Andrews do you have your eyes on? And why?
I have applied to Art History, as it is something I have been wanting to study in for about 3+ years now, I've only applied for this course in all of my uni applications lol

What grades did you get/are you predicted to get at GCSE and Sixth Form?
I'm taking a different qualification, but it roughly translates to IB 39

Why St Andrews specifically?
It's such a beautiful university and studying art history there just seems amazing!

Other unis you're interested in?
I've also applied to Edinburgh, UCL and Oxford

hi! i'm an international student from singapore and i just submitted my application today on 9 oct. all the best to everyone applying!

1) What A Levels are you doing (or other eligible qualifications)?
i'm doing the singapore-cambridge gce a levels in biology, chemistry, mathematics, spanish, h3 biology and general paper (which is compulsory).

2) What course at St Andrews do you have your eyes on? And why?
i've applied to marine biology, both the integrated masters and bachelors. i love biology and i love marine life! i'm interested in working in the field of conservation in future, so marine bio seemed like an obvious choice

3) What grades did you get/are you predicted to get at GCSE and Sixth Form?
predicted grades here are confidential so i don't know for sure, but based on my preliminary results and the a levels results of last year's batch i should have predicted AAA/AA + a merit in h3

4) Why St Andrews specifically?
i love that st andrews has a relatively small student population and is away from the city. from what i've read st andrews is great for marine bio and i like being able to take more than 1 subject in the first years of uni

5) Which admissions tests do you have to sit if any, and when will you start preparing for them?
none! (thank goodness)

6) Will you be attending any Open Days?
i won't be able to attend physically but i'm hoping to attend a virtual one.

7) How are you feeling about starting University?
excited to learn about things i'm interested in in more depth and to gain new experiences!

8) Other unis you're interested in?
i've also applied to southampton, glasgow and exeter.

I am with dual citizenship, so I got the home fees. And I am currently studying at two universities at the same time for Bachelor's degree, at one I got 2:2 so far, but for the other I got 2:1, so my condition is simply to graduate with at least 2:1.

Hi, just checking in to see if anyone applying for undergrad courses have received any offers yet?

Nope, I applied for social anthropology last two weeks ago and have received acknowledgement but nothing further! What are you applying for?

Reply 16

Oh Hi, I didn't realise this thread existed. I sent of my application last Thursday on the 10th of October.
I'm doing maths, physics, and psychology. I did EPQ last year (I just scraped an A*)
I'm applying for psychology- which I know is super competitive, but I love psychology so much. I especially adore developmental psychology and neuroscience, albeit I can't wait to find new areas I'm interested in. I know St Andrews also has the flexible degree structure, so a few I would consider doing as well: physics, maths, economics, sustainable development, computer science. Obviously I need to narrow that down a bit, but I'll cross that bridge if/when I get there.
I'm predicted all A*. I got all As in my AS. At GCSE I got eight 9s, one 8, one 7, and one Level 2 Distinction.
I love St Andrews so much! It's so beautiful and friendly with amazing courses, academics, and societies. It also just feels so homely.
No admission tests for St Andrews (I do have to sit the TSA for Oxford next week though on the 24th. I've been preparing since May/June, but I'm still so nervous- I'm sure it will be fine though).
I attended the open day back in Easter. It rained so hard that day but was still lovely!
I'm not thinking too much about starting uni yet, just about application. I know I'll be quite scared and homesick when it comes around, but hopefully I'll make some nice friends and I've started trying to figure out what clubs I want to join- so that's exciting.
Aside from St Andrews and Oxford, I'm also applying for Glasgow (I already have an offer for that one), Bath, and Edinburgh.
Good luck to everyone else for their applications!!!!!
