is transferring unis worth it?

ive completed my first year of international development with econ at uni of bath and i kinda hated it.. it wasnt my first choice as it was an alternative offer and i was very obsessed with the reputation of the uni rather than the relevance of the course to what i wanna do. im interested in something like management consulting or data analytics but honestly just anything in finance and im reconsidering whether transferring unis and redoing the first yr in a uni to do something more relevant like business or pure econ. i also just dont like bath very much and i feel like i'd be happier going to a uni that isnt so far away from home, but that isnt too important to me i can deal with being unhappy if it means i wont regret my degree. although it would mean i'd be going to a less reputable uni if i decide to transfer...

Work out what you want to do first - you mention a wide range of careers there, and your degree is a pretty flexible one anyway.

Swap out and go and study something you are interested in - even if the uni is less prestigious. Its a huge financial commitment and your current degree in international development probably will not land you a job in a consultancy firm.

So why are you getting yourself into useless debt by going to university? You are spending £45k on something you don't want or care about - that's bonkers. Stop before you get into the second year, and lose the funded opportunity to make a sensible second choice. If you start your second year, you will have used 2 years funding, stop now while you have only wasted your 'gift year'.
