Sheffield Hallam Lecture Recordings

Hi!
I'm starting a part-time urban planning masters in September 2024, however I'm also working full time alongside it in a job directly relating to the course. Because of this, I was wondering whether Sheffield Hallam records it's lectures and uploads them for students to watch since I'm stressed about only having one weekday free a week to go into uni. It's highly likely that mu course and work timetables won't line up.

Does anyone know if SHU records lectures for layer viewing??

Like many institutions, SHU uses Panapto according to the website, so providing the lectures are recoded, you should be able to listen to them at a later date. Of course, technology is very temperamental and so there may be occasions when it is not possible for them to be recorded. In my experience, some academics do not record them.

You might want to check with the Programme Leader for your course, as even if lectures are recorded, this would generally not include seminars. When I did my Masters, not at SHU but elsewhere, sessions were not recorded as the group was significantly smaller than a UG cohort and so it was very informal teaching. The only module that was recorded was Research Methods, but this was all MSc programmes within the faculty combined, so was a much bigger group. My other modules were the lecture and seminar together, so was more of a workshop.

I did a part-time MSc whilst working 30 hours per week. I of course haven’t seen your timetable, but studying part-time should mean it fits more conveniently around your employment.

Hello Pandaleah, I hope you're well, I would recommend to get in touch with the lecturer of the course you're interested in. Robert Stevens | Sheffield Hallam University (shu.ac.uk) - he will be able to give you guidance and support on how the learning will be structured. You will study at City Campus through a structured mix of lectures, seminars and practical sessions as well as access to digital and online resources to support your learning. You can also take a look at this webpage (How you'll learn at Hallam | Sheffield Hallam University (shu.ac.uk)).
