Paying accommodation from maintenance loan?

I'm confused about one thing and hope someone here has an answer. Does our accommodation fee come out our maintenance loan every term? I know we don't see the money that the course costs because that goes straight to the University but I'm still unclear about what happens with the loans. Thank you 😊

The maintenance loan is paid into your bank account at the start of each term and it is up to you how you spend it. You will need to pay your accommodation fees from it and then the rest will be for food, travel, entertainment, equipment, etc. Check your accommodation contract to see how and when you are expected to make payments. :smile:

Paying for accommodation wil depend on where you are staying. University (a some private) halls will charge you termly with the idea being that you use your maitenance loan to cover it. However, it is ultimately up to you what you use your maitenance loan on. When living in a house, you will be paying on a monthly basis so you may need to budget a bit more.
