The Student Room Group

moving into accommodation

im going to ARU in chelmsford, and staying in the student village. my family wants to move all my stuff in on the 10th, and then have me come back to stay at home until the 14th (there IS an actual reason for this lmao, they're not just being difficult).

would this be allowed? for me to drop all my stuff off, then leave again for a few days? im sure it seems like a silly question, but absolutely no one in my family has ever done any sort of higher education, and theyre making me paranoid.

edit: i did plan on contacting aru directly to ask this, but i wondered if anybody here would be able to give me any advice beforehand.

Yeah as soon as you've moved in you can go again 🙂 it's basically your own room at the point you pick up the keys, so you can come and go as you want

hi! i was looking at the rules about having guests over during the day, but i'm a bit confused. the website states that we are allowed guests during the day, but then goes on to say that a guest request form must be filled in. however, it's not clear if this means specifically for writtle students, or for everyone?

also, i'm unable to access the guest request form. again, i'm not sure if this is because it's only required for writtle students, or if it's an actual issue?

Hi there,

Thank you for your question 😊

I have checked with the Cambridge and Chelmsford accommodation team and a guest request form is not needed at Cambridge or Chelmsford. If you were to have guests over, we advise texting your Residential Assistant to let them know. This mobile number can be found on the Help and Info poster in your room.

As for Writtle, please contact the accommodation team via email for more info: [email protected]

Many thanks,
Jemma
