I was wondering how unis went about punishing underage students who tried to sneak into 18+ freshers events. Is it the norm for the student to get kicked out? Or is there like a fine to pay? Or does the uni simply go out of their way to make the school year hell for the student?
I cannot speak for other universities, but here at Bath you can attend all freshers' events if you are under 18, only you will not be allowed to buy or drink alcohol at certain events. We issue 2 types of wristbands for under and over 18s (some other unis may well do the same). I would say though that the huge majority of freshers events/sessions/fairs at most unis are age-limit-free (society tasters, freshers' fair, trips out, some parties etc) so there's plenty of fun stuff to do regardless of what age you are. My advice would be if possible, just don't take the risk. I don't expect you will need to pay a fine and its very unlikely that your year will be made deliberately difficult! But my advice would be to try and avoid any risk of punishment - you can make the most of freshers' week and get an awful lot out of it whatever age you are
I hope that helps a bit - best wishes for starting uni!

Hi
I totally agree with the other comments on this thread, I wouldn't try to do anything that could result in punishment from the university, I would just try to attend all the events that you can attend. I'm sure they will all be good fun!
