Hello, I’m planning to apply for dental hygiene and therapy this year. I was just wondering if you know how many unis I can apply to for this course, is it 4 or 5?

Five. The four-choice limit applies only to vet med, dentistry and medicine.

Which course did you do for access to medicine? I’m thinking of doing access to higher education. I’ve been a dental nurse for 6 years, I’ve done my OHE & radiography but I don’t think that’s enough 🥲 This is my second year applying

Hi, I am reapplying for DHT nursing for this current year, been a few months. I did BTEC DIPLOMA Applied Science and achieved ‘DD’ with a side of WJEC diploma criminology achieved A & total of 144 UCAS points. I wanted to try Bristol, but it needs 5 specific bio units and 2 isn’t in my qualification so that’s fine. I did one year DN course at Portsmouth too! I definitely don’t want to work as a dental nurse for any much more longer and its not even been 1yr officially. Its draining for what you do and we are extremely underpaid for our efforts and commitment to the job. I don’t see myself happy as a DN so I really do hope I make it for DHDT for the 2nd time. Best of luck to us all! I was also wondering if anybody knows unis that reply fast for interview offers?

lol ive got no chance of getting in with all these dental nurses. I'm a school leaver and will be retaking a levels this year. idk if there's even a point in applying looking at these threads

thats exactly why i chose to study dental nursing in uni. you get experience and it boosts your application. but dont worry, plenty of school leavers get into dental hygiene/therapy. courses usually have a mix of both nurses and school leavers 🙂

yes that was a good idea. I guess I’m kinda stuck now, because I did apply for DHT last year but I got rejected after interview. I think it’s because I didn’t apply strategically enough. But I’m not sure if I should try again and actually look through the requirements before randomly applying. maybe I should just choose another course, I’m abit stuck.

it just depends on how bad you want to study DHT. if its your ultimate goal like it is mine, then id suggest you reapply and keep trying because it is a very very competitive course to get into so even getting an interview is an achievement. but if you're open to other careers then its best to do some research into what appeals to you❤️

I am a dental nurse applying for dental hygiene and therapy 2025, I have over 2 years experience but only qualified January this year, does anyone know if the UCAS deadline is 14th October or if that is just for dental surgery not hygiene? I am currently studying an access course with biology, sociology and psychology.
