I got these grades. Ask me anything

*DISCLAIMER* This is not intended to be boastful at all.
I got 8 9s, 1 8 and an A* in EPQ which I took 2 years early. My 8 is currently getting remarked because it was in english lit, and I got 100% on paper 1, yet was torpedoed by the examiner in paper 2 who gave me 67/96.
I will admit I didn't take the most conventional subjects:
Art-9
Drama- 9
Eng lang- 9
Eng lit- 8
Physics-9
Maths-9
Russian-9
Spanish-9
History-9
EPQ-A*
There are certainly methods to how I got these grades and I am perfectly willing to share if anyone is interested.
Well done on your grades :congrats:

May I ask, what did you do get an A* on your EPQ?

If I'm being completely honest, doing well in EPQ is less about how intelligent you are but a combination of your intimate knowledge of certain things. The mark scheme, your tracking of your development stages for the project and your justification for every choice, your critical evaluation of the information you gain as well as justifications for using a certain type of site (e.g. journal articles or websites), and just a ruthless work ethic, because you need to put some serious hours into an EPQ.
my latest night was 6 AM
pick a question that is quite niche, where there is a good chance that the marker will be a layman in that subject. For example, our marker is an english teacher, whereas mine was on economics, so he was less likely to have a massive knowledge of it. Cram it full of subject terminology, but make sure you explain all of these in really simple terms so the examiner (a layman) understands it and it appears really well written and digestible.
You've got this !

Why did you get these grades rather than straight As?

quizlet is a really good way of memorising both individual words and speaking answers.
using their memory tool is great because it literally tells you the exact percentages of the set you remember.
Another tip is whenever you see a word you don't know, always write it down no matter how obscure it is- it is a good habit to build.
listen to loads of stuff in teh other languages and when you are doing listening PPQs do it on 1.5x or 1.75x speed so you get really used to the pace of the language.

I take it you may be from abroad
in the UK a '9' is a high A* and an '8' is a low A*

No, I'm living in Scotland.
I did my exams in England, GCSEs/Advanced Levels.
Only my SATS did I have scores from 1 to 9.
