Medicine Contextual offer for achieved grades?

I have just received my A level grades of AAB in chemistry, biology and maths (B in maths) and did not apply to go into university, I am applying this year due to personal circumstances.

I know most universities need AAA. However, I am a refugee and could get a lowered offer of two grades in Manchester university and a grade lower in Keele University.

Does this apply to my already achieved grades or just predicted grades? I was predicted three A stars.

I am still doing my UCAT on September 24th so I am still unsure of what other universities to apply to.

Do you think I have a chance of being accepted into medicine? I am starting to lose hope.
It will apply to their requirements, so if they need AAA, they might offer AAB or ABB

Dont lose hope at all, you did amazing. From my perspective you are a contextual student, it’s worth ringing the different unis and asking them this question! I know two people both NON contextual who got into med at UoM with AAB and dentistry at liverpool with AAB !!

Thank you for this! I rang UoM but they seemed pretty clueless and just told me to look at their website. I might just have to ring other unis and see what they can offer.

Did you speak to the medical admissions team? Because the info online is often old and inaccurate. Imo, go ahead and still apply as long as you meet the UCAT requirements and fingers crossed you get offers!!
Sorry, to clarify, you have achieved grades off AAB and refugee status looking to apply to medicine?

Are you only interested in Manchester and Keele or open to a range of places ?

Will have a look for you on my contextual records for you.

it is very difficult to make any suggestions before you have your UCAT score. Keep plugging away at that.

I am honestly interested in anywhere in the UK, as long as I can do medicine. That would be amazing, thank you so much!

Bro she literally got 2450 band 2 or something and er idk ab gcses, this was in 2023!! Also with a lot of unis once youve got your grades they tend to be more lenient she applied with predicted AAA and her offer was for AAA however she missed it by one grade and they decided to be lenient ab it , I honestly don’t know how universities make these decisions

I defos think it’s different with achieved grades, bc in my experience ( med reject here!!) they don’t tend to value PREDICTED grades at all, they often rely on the UCAT or GCSEs however if youve alr achieved your a level grades then from what I know they do take that more into consideration!! Also if you’re a contextual applicant AAB is perfect?
