Studying the US someone from the UK

Hey all,

I currently want to do Biology or Biochemistry as a major in the US, but I do not know what a transcript is? And what it consist of? Can any UK international students that currently study in America tell me what a transcript is, and what data it consist of , like GSCE or A-levels. Please could you tell me ASAP.

I am not a UK international student currently studying in America, but I use transcripts in the college I study at and it is basically a record of your grades. It should list out all the subjects you took and all the grades you got for that subject. So in your case it would be the document that lists your GSCE subjects and grades. The same for A-levels
good luck!

So will it be my certificates for GSCE on a document?

I would assume so but I would always double check with the university’s admissions team just in case

US students take different classes every year instead of the same classes for 2 years for GCSE and A-Levels respectively. We also get graded each semester on class participation, tests, projects, homework, exams... so our grades consists of more components than just the final exam itself like GCSEs/A-Levels. So a transcript for a U.S. student would include all the classes they took (so colleges can see the rigor and subject diversity of their course load), their grades in each class over the course of their academic years, and also their GPA

Hi. A transcript is just a record of your marks and grades so that would be your GCSE and A levels. Like a document of your GCSE results and A-level grades. In the US and Canada, courses are semester-based and we don't have two-year-long courses like in the UK for a level. Transcripts list all courses taken (HS or uni ) and marks earned. We are graded on class participation, behaviour, tests projects, final exams and such

Hiya! A transcript is basically all your grades from yr10-13. You should be talking with your counsellor about this as they will be the one to put it onto your common app. If you dont have one, I recommend going to your head of year/carers. (I didnt make it clear enough but yes it will include GCSEs and A-levels)
