Should I take a gap year to do A Level Maths - I need some advice.

So I an in Y13 currently predicted AAB. I want to do a degree ideally in finance separately or accounting and finance, however I don't take Maths so I am limited from the big target unis like LSE, UCL and Warwick. I know I have a chance with unis like Nottingham, Durham etc but I want more.
That's why I'm considering doing a gap year to take a level maths and try my luck with LSE and UCL. Obviously downside is its an extra year but it allows me to save up money, strengthen my application by doing maths and gain more work experience and allows me to travel.

The only thing making me hesitate is my average gcses, being 9977665555 with a 6 in maths. Do I stand a chance at the top unis even with A level maths?
Advice would be appreciated as I want to get into a top university but I don't know if doing maths is worth it because of my GCSES.
Why have you not taken Maths A levels?
Because you struggle with Maths, or because you dont actually enjoy it much?

A bit of both but I know with effort and a tutor I can definitely do well. Going into Y12 i didn't really have a plan so I picked subjects I enjoyed.

Really? Is it necessary or just something to gain an edge. Im already in y13 a levels and did an AS level already - is there a definite reason to take FM too as id be doing maths in 1 year so isnt that too much work? Thanks

Are u thinking of doing the same thing? Ofc its very tough but if you work hard enough for it I would think it would be fine. Its just whether taking it is a necessary option for you as it is a year out.

I started maths at the beginning of A Levels but couldn't finish it. Although I didn't realise back then how important it was in uni applications(I wasn't very commited) I swithced out for media studies so I was doing 3d Design, geography and media studies and I got AAA. However, I now want to do engineering and you need maths for that.
