GYG-> year 11 student who is trying to get his grades up

Hi i am a year 10 student going year 11 student who wants to get an 8 or 9 in maths science and english
this is to motivate me to revise and interact with help

Hey! Welcome to the GYG community <3

For maths I found the best way to revise for me was to do past paper questions on the topics I struggled with to ensure I understood the technique to use in exams. Also do full timed past papers to make sure you have a good grasp of how fast to do the questions and how much time you need to leave to check them all over again

I found for sciences that biology was mainly rote memorisation and was very knowledge based with little understanding necessary. For this I made lots of flashcards on each topic and big mindmaps to see an overview of all of it
Physics is the opposite, where you should make sure you understand all the content and memorise the equations and how to use them in every situation. Use flashcards to quiz yourself on the equations
Chemistry is a mixture of the other 2 and the one I found the most difficult to revise for but I did watch various YouTube videos to explain the topics
I also created sets of questions for myself on every one of the topics using the website booklet and I would do the quiz every day bc it's a fun little game. Also make sure to use past paper questions to test your knowledge and understanding of all of these but especially physics (bc of the maths)

English lit was my favourite English and I revised by creating mind maps on the book themes that might come up on the exams and making flashcards with quotes and characters to quiz myself on. Also make sure you practice the timing of essay writing and how much time to dedicate to each question and have a good understanding of the storyline of the book

Sorry I didn't do the greatest in the other subjects so I don't really feel very qualified to give you advice on them...

heyy good luck for year 11! my revision method for maths was to do a past paper, figure out which topics i'm struggling on and practise exam questions for that topic, and then repeat! at the start of year 11 i'm assuming you're probably not quite in the position to do a full past paper yet but definitely make sure you use past paper questions, they are a lifesaver!!
