Hi am interested to know if anyone has been accepted onto a physiotherapy degree with a btec extended national diploma in sports and exercise science.
My son is predicted to get DDD. Trying to establish how Likely it will be for him to get into physio with a btec qualification.
Thankyou

Has he checked the entry requirements section on the course pages on uni websites? If the unis that he is applying to accept his qualification and he meets the grade requirements, then he has as good a chance of receiving an offer as other applicants with A levels. Has he managed to get some shadowing experience with a physio and does he have public-facing work/volunteering experience?

I’ve seen a few of the unis stating they accept btec with grades DDD/DDM. He has a years experience in a public facing job and has done work experience in pe department at a school. But he wasn’t able to secure any shadowing/observation experience with physios locally. he did go for physio himself for about 5 month and that’s what made him want to do this role. We will look around again to see if we can secure some observation experience asap. Thankyou

For shadowing, contact local hospitals and ask for a day's shadowing in the physio department. Some private practices might be willing to do it too.

Hey there @Rekhs ,

Here at the University of Bradford we do have Entry Requirements for Physiotherapy at DDD (136 UCAS Points) in a relevant Health, Science or Sport subject. Your son would have an equal chance like an A Level applicant through applying like the Rep above mentioned, so long as he can demonstrate his abilities and skills through the Personal Statement.

It would be great for him to get more experience through shadowing or volunteering at your local NHS trust but it isn't a requirement of course. It looks very good on a CV though, to demonstrate skills and knowledge picked up through the experience. I hope it works out well for your son! 🙂
