Will a foundation year help me get onto a different university?

Brighton University will the accept my foundation year from another university in Psychology to get onto their Psychology Course? It’s my dream university and I’m stressed to the max, I know I don’t have the grades but I’m desperate to go there. Please help. I couldn’t do a levels but I’m doing a foundation year to try and get onto these unis. I don’t have a levels but have gcses.

I suggest that you read Brighton's Transferring from another university page. Although the page doesn't really go into specifics, it does provide a big red button at the foot of the page whereby you can contact their enquiries team.

Generally speaking, what a university will want to see when you transfer is:
That you meet their entry requirements (i.e. would have been considered if you'd applied there directly).
That the modules you've covered at your original university have a strong overlap with what you would have covered had you been at the new university.
That your academic performance at your original university has been acceptable.
That they have space on the course.

Specifically, a foundation year is designed to allow you to progress onto the "regular" degree at that same university. It is not designed to be a general qualification (like A levels or BTECs) with which to apply elsewhere.

Note that the above may not apply specifically to Brighton - I'm talking generally. However, I'd be very surprised if the transfer you're seeking is an option. Sorry. :frown:

Hi @tsturgeon

I hope you've managed to get in touch with our enquiries team and get an answer since you posted. If not i'd definitely recommend contacting them through their enquiries form as they will be able to help 😊

I believe foundation courses are considered on a case by case basis for entry to the Psychology BSc (Hons). The admissions team will need to review the modules covered on your foundation degree and then confirm if this would be acceptable.

The enquiries team will be able to get you in contact with the admissions team.

I hope this is helpful. Best of luck with your applications!
