Hi, I'm looking for some major insights into doing this course. I know it is extremely competitive and applications need to show a lot of experience, but if anyone could give me their own personal stories on how they got accepted, I'd be very grateful!
I've also got one burning question about this course. It is my understanding that you spend most of your time away on placements. How do people find accommodation for these? Is there accommodation through the NHS? I'm particularly interested in NHS Scotland but can't find anything about this other than I need to cover my own accommodation fees.

I am more than happy to share my own experience (i qualified from the doctorate in 2022). Let me know what details you want specifically.
Reference your 2nd question, it is a paid course so you are an employee of the NHS and are paid as such (you can look at bands online). You normally do 5 to 6 (depends on course) placements (normally 6 months each in duration, some longer) and go to uni on set blocks. These placements are normally within an hour of uni but can be much longer. Trainees normally rent near to uni and then hope for the best. It is closer to a job than an academic course, so no you wont get any accomodation.
