Alevel Private Candidate UCAS enquiry

Hi, I am currently a private candidate outside of UK (so I am an international applicant) and I am going to take my alevels in may 2025. However I was notified that as a private candidate UCAS would not receive your grades and you would have to send your grades to University by yourself. I was wondering whether this is true.

In addition, since I am taking my alevels next year I do not have a UCI yet, so how is UCAS going to identify me? How is it going to send my results to university?

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

Hey! You're right about having to send your grades yourself if you're a private candidate. UCAS doesn’t automatically receive your results, so once you get them, you'll need to send official copies to the universities directly.
As for the UCI, don’t stress! UCAS can still identify you without it. When you fill out your UCAS application, you just leave the UCI section blank if you don’t have one yet. The UCI is mainly used for tracking your results, so when you do get it after your exams, you can update your UCAS application with it.
Hope that clears things up!
Thank you so much for the reply! Sorry but I just saw your reply and it helped me alot! Just a few more questions.
1.Just to clarify UCAS doesn't receive results from private candidates is that right?
2.How did you get this information, because I was looking all over the web and couldn't find anything that could answer my question lol
3.Once I add my UCI to UCAS, UCAS would then have access to my results, and then would only be able to send my resutls to university?

Thank you so much for your help and response, what a legend!!!

You're very welcome! I'm glad I could help. 😊 To answer your follow-up questions:
1. UCAS and Private Candidates: Yes, you're correct. UCAS doesn't automatically receive results from private candidates. If you're a private candidate, it's usually up to you to ensure that your results are sent directly to the universities you're applying to. You may need to contact the exam board or the exam center to request this.
2. How I Got the Info: The information I provided comes from a mix of knowledge, experiences shared by friends, and general guidance from official UCAS documentation and other academic resources. Sometimes, specifics about private candidates can be tricky to find online, so I'm glad this helped clarify things for you!
3. Adding UCI to UCAS: When you add your UCI (Unique Candidate Identifier) to your UCAS application, it links your application to your exam results. However, for private candidates, UCAS doesn’t automatically receive those results, so you’ll need to make sure they’re sent directly to the universities. Once the universities receive your results, they can update your application accordingly.
I’m happy I could help! If you have more questions, feel free to ask anytime. 😊
