Politics and International Relations - Can I get in?

Hi there. I would like to apply to Politics and International Relations at the following universities: LSE, UCL, King's (they only do Politics there so I'll choose that), Warwick, Exeter and Royal Holloway. I need to take one out, but these are the six I am looking at.

With my stats below, what is the likelihood of me getting into these universities:

-GCSEs: (Completed) Religious Studies (9), English Literature (8), Geography (8), English Language (7), Biology (6), Chemistry (6), Mathematics (6), Physics (5), and German (5) - Average is 6.6

-A-Levels: (Predicted) Economics (A*), Philosophy (A*), and English Literature (A)

*I am still working on my Personal Statement.
*I am a home student.
*I have been state educated my entire life. However, my secondary school was below average and my sixth form now is outstanding to give some context.

Many thanks,
I study Politics & International Relations at Royal Holloway. I got in with achieved grades AAC as I'm a mature student. You will definitely get a place

As long as you have a stellar personal statement, you should be fine
I appreciate the advice!

Hi there,

It's great to hear you're interested in applying to study Politics and International Relations at Royal Holloway. We recommend contacting our Department of Politics and International Relations directly, who should be able to give you a clearer idea of the entry requirements and course content. Their email is [email protected].

Alongside this, you may find it helpful to speak to the department directly at a subject talk at one of our upcoming events:

Online Open Day - 30 October
November in-person Open Day - 23 November

I hope this is helpful.

Best wishes,
Royal Holloway, University of London

You should do well, just make sure you have a good personal statement. Also make sure you have some safety uni choices when you apply. When I made my application I ended up with two offers with the same (high!) grades. This meant I didn’t really have a second choice uni in practice. I would’ve found this immensely stressful if I didn’t also have offers from international unis (outside the UCAS limit) with nicer grade requirements.

Also on a separate note, Politics/Political Science degrees can also cover International Relations (as IR is also a sub-discipline of Political Science). Just make sure you check the syllabus for each course.
