Maths A level end of YR12

Hi
I am taking 4 A levels - bio, chem, maths, further maths with the intention of dropping further maths at the end of YR12. My course doesn’t require 4 A levels so makes sense to me to spend more time on the 3 to get the grades required. My school teaches the whole of the maths syllabus in YR12 and then the whole of the further maths in YR13.
However, I just found out that we are required to take the Alevel maths at the end of YR 12. I spoke to my teacher and she said that I can repeat it in YR 13 if I don’t get the grade I want, and drop further maths. My question is that do I need to declare to UCAS that I have taken the A level maths and the grade I have obtained if I plan to retake in YR 13?
I don’t want to jeopardise my chances of getting a place at a London uni to study medicine and the teacher didn’t sound so sure.
Thank you

Thanks for the tag, @thegeek888.

Yes, if you take A level Maths at the end of Year 12 you need to declare that fact (including the grade) in your UCAS application. UCAS themselves make that fact clear here where they write (and they even put it in bold):

"You must enter all your qualifications from secondary education onwards – whether you have the result (even any that were ungraded) or you’re still awaiting exams and results."

Also, on the same page:

"You need to make sure your original result has been listed first before you enter any details about a resit."

One "work-around" would simply be not to show-up for the Maths exams in Year 12. You'd receive an X which means, "the student was absent from all parts of the examination." That's different from a U, in that an X isn't a grade and so doesn't need to be entered into UCAS. It's a slightly dodgy strategy, especially as your school might not be happy with you taking that approach, but it might work. You could perhaps threaten to do that, and see if they're happy to not even enter you for the Year 12 exam instead.

Not showing up is disrespectful and would probably mean the school sending you a bill.

Why take FMaths then? I don't understand this at all ...
