Getting into a good uni at the end of s5?

Hi, I’m an s5 student sitting 5 highers this year. School is really not for me and I feel like I’d do much better in a university environment. I got straight As at Nat5 and I’m pretty confident I could get straight As at higher as well. I really want to get into to a prestigious uni such as Edinburgh or St Andrews… Is it worth it to try and apply for uni at the end of s5 or will I immediately be declined for not having sat s6?

they will 100% give you a place at the end of s5 if your grades and PS reflect that of their standards, no Scottish uni will look for S6 attendance or Adv higher. Something to consider as well is that S6 experience is completely different to S5. I began to really enjoy school in S6 as I felt I was more in control of my learning and time (free periods etc). Also, it places a bit more pressure on doing well in your higher and all your offers will be conditional to these rather than unconditional if you wait a year. nevertheless if this is something you want to do there is no harm in trying, I see no reason why you couldn't gain entry and know many people who have done so at these unis

Which course are you thinking of? I know Edinburgh recommends doing Advanced Higher maths for some of the more numerate courses for example (although unsure if this is considered by admissions).
