A Level options CCEA

Hey! I'm currently in year 12 in Northern Ireland and talks are beginning for A level choices as my school makes our choices quite early (November of year 12)
I am looking to take on A level art but I never did art at GCSE level. BUT - Art is one of my favourite hobbies and I believe i am quite good at it! Is it possible to still do alevel art without doing gcse art? Many thanks!!

Hey @leoslove,

I did both CCEA GCSE Art and Design and CCEA A-Level Art and Design. It's certainly possible to do A-Level Art without having done GCSE Art, especially since Northern Irish sixth forms don't typically operate in the same way English sixth forms do in regards to subject entry requirements. However, you still would need to discuss it with the art department in your school and the teacher that will be taking the A-Level art class - they might like to see some examples of your work/prior interest in art just to ensure that you're capable of handling the A-Level workload. 🙂

Hope this was helpful!
