Call to the bar vs graduation

Is the call to the bar the same as graduating from the bar course or will each uni hold a separate graduation ceremony in addition to being called to the bar by your inns of court?:

How much did you pay for your call to the bar expenses. So far it looks like I’ll be spending at least £250-300

Normally, the uni will also hold a graduation ceremony, although I don't think it is very well attended (I didn't go to mine, nor did any of my classmates other than one because it was the day her parents could fly back from Singapore). I honestly don't recall the expenses.

Did you just get your BPC certificate in the post?

I was literally 2 days year old when I realised that my uni would also have a graduation ceremony. However given the costs for call to the bar, I’m not sure I want to have to double pay or prep for both.

Plus I kind of conceive graduating and being called to the bar as like the same thing in my mind. Maybe that’s why it didn’t even occur to me that there would be a separate ceremony held by my uni
I don't think there was a separate graduation ceremony for my bar course. We're going back a little bit now though. If there was I obviously decided quickly that I wasn't going and have since forgotten about it. Can't recall now where I got my certificate either, but imagine it was in the post or we went in to get them. It may be that they're more common now because you see students doing LLMs alongside them, but personally I don't think I'd be bothered about going to a graduation ceremony for the bar course. As you say, that is pretty much what being called is. That's the important one for the memories in my view.

I agree with that! I can’t wait to buy my gown and wig.
