What's the point of GCSEEnglish Literature

I'm going into year 11 tomorrow and I was just casually wondering: what the **** is the point of English Literature.

What is the ******* point of this ****? It's such a waste of time when I could be revising actually useful knowledge.

It's probably less about the specific knowledge about a piece of literature, but more about the general skills you develop through the process. These could include reading comprehension, critical thinking, persuasive writing skills, grammar and vocabulary, and more, all of which can be very useful in any profession, or in daily life.
