Best unis for Electrical and Electronic Engineering in the UK

Hi - what do you think the best unis for EEE in the UK are?

Honestly, as someone from an EEE background, who also interviews/recruits, the best university for the subject is the one that's best for you as an individual. The one that will give you the best combination of quality of life, social existence and module combination. As that will really boost your chances of both succeeding at your degree and also weathering the challenges and stresses the degree will bring.

In industry, we generally don't care where you go, compared to what you studied and achieved. There will be exceptions (I'm looking at you F1, and you teaching in Academia!). There's also some people who go down the finance and economic industry routes post Uni where it might count too.

Make the choice right for you mate. Also, look around at degree apprenticeships too, if you prefer gaining working experience while also gaining your quals. Plenty of options out there.

Since you asked for opinions though, I'm a bit biased so I'll suggest Exeter for just electronic engineering as it's a lovely city, a great uni with good facilities, staff and students...... and it's where I spent some really brilliant years of my life. Saying that though, I've also enjoyed my experiences at Plymouth, The Open University and Cranfield for various subjects through my professional career. So my earlier points stand, about the best Uni being the best one for you.

Finally, I hope you do choose the engineering route for a career, as we need more enthusiastic and capable people and it's a genuinely great adventure.
