As somebody who’s looked into tons of biology courses, I’m pretty sure that while a lot of them want two sciences a lot of them will be fine without it. You might just have to dig around a little bit, and if you truly can’t find any (which I doubt) then you could always look into doing a foundation year

Thank you for the reassurance 🙏

I took biology geography and English
I don't know if these will allow me to study to become a marine biologist in the future.

Hello! 🙂
Most marine biology/marine sciences courses will focus on you having Biology A Level and then recommended subjects would be things like chemistry, geography, maths.
As you are doing both biology and geography, you're in a good place!
I'd recommend having a look on universities' websites to see which course you like, here is UEA's website for the Marine Sciences courses to help you get started.
I hope this helps, let me know if you have any questions!

it varies between unis. Some will ask for 2 core sciences, some state a preference for chem or another subject, some ask for 2 sciences but count geog as a science, some only ask for one science. If you have any specific unis in mind then check their requirements, also look at local options in case you decide you want to stay local when you apply.

Hi there,

That’s great that you’re already thinking ahead about your A Levels and future career options! I’d definitely recommend checking the entry requirements for a few universities just to get a sense of what courses might ask for.

For example, our Zoology BSc (Hons) course at LJMU, you’d need A Level Grade C or above in Biology or a related science, and the other two A Levels can be in subjects of your choice. Overall, we ask for BCC at A Level.

You can find more details here: https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/study/courses/undergraduates/2026/30990-zoology-bsc-hons

Hope that helps while you’re deciding your subjects! 🙂

Hi,

Entry requirements usually state Biology and one other science. However, some universities count Geography as a science, so it can sometimes meet the requirement.

I’d recommend checking individual entry requirements on university websites and contacting admissions if you’re unsure.

Hope this helps,

Hi @Spongecandy3
I'm a current 2nd year Msci student studying Marine biology with oceanography for Uni of Southampton, and I wanted to ease your worries.
For marine biology most universities require 2 science subjects, since you have taken biology and geography you have met those requirements for UoS as shown here.
@dxisymcdxnxld as previously stated for Uni of Southampton geography is considered a science subject as is for the majority of other universities yet I would check for the ones you want to apply for. I would recommend taking psychology as has quite alot of links to animal behaviour or a subject which your interested in or a subject you enjoyed at GCSE.
Hopefully this helps and ease some of your worries , if you have any questions please let me know
