Clearing for politics and international relations

Hey
I have offers from Goldsmiths and Royal Holloway but I am confused which one would be better because I have heard mixed reviews about both. I want an honest opinion from people there. I went to Coventry earlier but was not happy at all so decided to change. I got goldsmiths and royal Holloway through clearing. The time is passing by and I need to make a decision quickly. Please help me with info like ranking, location, crowd, environment, courses at both places.

The environments are very different; which would you prefer?

Goldsmiths is in New.Cross in SE London. It's not an area I know well, but it's fairly lively if a bit gritty.

Royal Holloway is way out of London to the SW in Egham. I understand it's "nicer" but less lively.

Try asking in the individual uni forums on here.

You can see the rankings online. It also depends, what course do you want to do?

Royal Holloway is 28th on the complete university guide for your course and goldsmith is 67 and Royal Holloway is 37 and Goldsmiths 53 in the guardian rankings. Although rankings shouldn’t be the end all be all. Have you considered Surrey it’s ranked 24 in both and it’s really good. If not look at Aston or Lancaster as they’re both ranked high aswell x.

you could take a look at SOAS for politics/IR, seems to have a pretty good reputation too.

I am thinking about trying for clearing but not sure because of the grades I got 76% in India I think it is equal to AAC in uk. If you have anymore advice please share because I am not really aware about things in uk

Each uni will view Indian qualifications differently. SOAS, for example...

Queen Mary’s requirements are BBB for your course in clearing ( and that’s just a marker, they will accept lower since the course is still in clearing it means they need more people and people with those grades aren’t applying. It’s low compared to your grades, you could aim higher but up to you.

Hi there,

Congratulations on your offer! I would recommend chatting to our current students here where you can ask our student life, study, and your course.

I hope this helps with making your decision.

Kind regards
Royal Holloway, University of London
