Commuting/parking at Sheffield Hallam Collegiate Campus

Has anyone on here commuted to SHU collegiate campus by car? I know there is no on site parking and that parking nearby is limited. I was planning on driving rather than getting trains/buses as I only live 25 minutes away by car but public transport puts my journey up to over an hour and financially driving would be cheaper for me. My first day is a little over a week away and I’m worried that if I drive I won’t find somewhere to park and end up being late on my first day.

I am currently trying to sort the same problem out for myself. So far I'm following the advice on here from a previous student query but it is from a few years ago. I've downloaded the NCP app and the code given in the previous thread but just checking to see if it is all valid etc so will keep you posted.

Ahhh I’ve not found any threads like this on here! Yeah thank you, if you just drop a comment on here with any info you find that would be amazing! Is this to park nearby collegiate or in the city centre btw? Everything I’ve found so far suggests parking in the centre and commuting the rest of the way
Collegiate is quite close to the Hallamshire Hospital which adds to the challenge, you can park in the suburbs (eg Fulwood, Crosspool or Crookes) and get a bus down but there is still some walking to do. FWIW I used to get to train station and ebike (there is secure parking at station)

If you are early and dont mind a walk there is parking on lots of back streets (that aren't residents only) a little way out, for example you can park near Endcliffe Park and walk in. If you arrive a little later in the day (after 9:30?) you can park for free on the road out from Hunters Bar but the bus lanes start up again at 4pm

Hi,

As you mentioned we don't have a designated car park, and especially near Collegiate campus it can be very sparse. There are more parking options closer to the city centre, with regular buses and a free SHU shuttle bus that can take you into Collegiate, but we understand you may not want to add extra travel.

You can see our page here for more advice: Where to park | Sheffield Hallam University (shu.ac.uk)
