should i apply to psychology in kcl?

Hi all,
I'm currently starting year 13 and studying English Language and Literature, Criminology and Biology. I'm in Wales so we do AS Levels and I achieved ABC (in order of a levels said) with the B being 1 mark off an A. I'm resitting one of the biology papers next year to pull the C up as I got a B in one paper and a C in the other.
I think I will be predicted AAA but I want to study psychology which is A*AA.
I am also doing an EPQ but debating dropping it (would it make a difference if I had AAA but with an EPQ?) and have lots of other supercurriculars to talk about on my personal statement.
I might ask my english teachers if they could bump my predicted A to an A* instead, but even then I don't know if it'd be worth applying because if I did get an offer and then didn't get the grades, I would've missed out on another good uni I could've gone to rather than my backup.
Should I bother applying? Am I likely to get an offer/get in?
Hello @isabelphelps ,

I would say that asking your teacher to reconsider your predicted grade would be a good first step. Its great to hear you're doing an EPQ and extra-curriculars because this will give you some good material for your PS. It is up to you whether you want to carry on with the EPQ or not but I would defo recommend trying to see it through if you can because its a great way to demonstrate your interest in your subject.

Grade-wise, at the end of the day, its about trying the very best you can. AAA is a fantastic set of results, please remember that, and there are a lot of very good unis who would happily give you an offer if you achieved that. I would look at a range of psychology courses in detail on the websites of other unis you might be interested in. There's absolutely no harm in applying to KCL as you have 5 choices on UCAS, and really focus on trying to secure that A*. However I would stress that unis look at an application holistically, and whilst grades are important, there are a lot of other factors which are important too, such as a well-written PS.

I would advise you to go for KCL but make sure to apply for some alternatives too which ask for slightly lower grades just in case. You never know, you may well surprise yourself

I can't give any useful info on the likelihood of getting an offer - I think talking to your tutors/KCL's admissions team would be able to help more with that one.

I hope that helps, please post any more questions right here

KCL like several other leading Unis, may not accept Criminology as it is not an A level.
You need to check this carefully with each individual Uni before you apply.

Are you entitled to a contextual offer?

Thank you so much! I'm thinking of applying to Nottingham, Manchester and Birmingham and they're all AAA/AAB as well as a backup option.

I have looked already, from what I've read it's accepted.

In this case, unfortunately not!
