GCSE remark advice

Hi there. My son’s English language module result was grades below what was expected. He was extremely upset. His teacher recalled his paper and as a department they believe it was harshly marked. My question is how likely is it that the score will increase significantly. Thank you for any advice as I’m managing a very disappointed child.
How close was he to the grade boundary and how many marks do the department think his mark could increase by? Usually marks dont change but they can go up by usually 1 or 2 marks mostly, or they can go down. If the department think he could gain more marks then check how close to the boundary your son’s score was.

He’s about five from the next grade. The English department feel that his paper has been scored very harshly.

Thanks so much. The next grade up will still mean a resit however he felt the exam went really well and his confidence is shattered. I’m hoping for a ‘it was t as bad as that” solution.
I got mine remarked and went up 9 ( and I may appeal again as I feel I was still under marked but i will listen to teacher advice on that ) so def try
