The Student Room Group

Support Group For Retaking A Levels as a Private Candidate.

Hi,

Due to circumstances outside of my control I am retaking my Biology and Chemistry A Levels as a private candidate and wanted to make this post/message board to see if anyone else was in my boat and to support each other kind of like a study group. I hope your doing well and although A Levels aren't easy I think with a second shot we can do this!

Thank you for reading and best wishes

Hi, I would like to see them too, please
I am also retaking AQA A-level bio and chem, things didnt go so well for multiple reasons.
Lets try and give this our best shot and really improve this time round.
Lets try and look at this as a stepping stone and not as a definition of what we can do....i def know theres a lot of negative, almost shame around retaking, ngl i felt embarassed at myself , btu we have to reframe the idea of retakes as somehting that is more common tahn it seems and a positive thing, im proud of everybody retaking for deicidng on this tough but hopefully rewarding path.

I agree with you completely - there is a lot of stigma around being a retake student but personally i think being a resit student is harder than a regular student as depending on your situation(me for instance) we have to do it independently which may be challenging but if we stick it through and have resolve to follow it through and get the grades this time around shows our resilience and perseverance to keep going not because it is easy but because it is hard and achieve our dreams. A quote that best comes to mind is "small setback for a big comeback", so lets all support each other as we go through the journey of retaking our A Levels and getting those grades!! Wishing everyone the best!
