LLB at good reputable unis with BBC at A-level?

For some background context:

I’m a recent school leaver taking a gap year after an unsuccessful degree apprenticeship application cycle, achieved BBC at A-level which I’m underwhelmed about as my expectations were a little higher (ABB at least) however I’m really adamant on taking my LLB in Manchester, specifically UoM but I kind of lost hope in getting into a top RG like that.

I’ve labelled Manchester Met as the next best (option in Manchester) even though I’m really unsure if it is - there’s so many conflicting opinions everywhere. I was also wanting to study in Bristol. Other than these two I only have about 2 other potential universities. My aspiration post-grad is to become a commercial solicitor and I have an extremely strong passion to achieve that in any way.

1- Does anyone know if I could get into UoM or UoB through clearing with these grades, and if they are likely to even have clearing for an LLB?

2- Which other respectable non RG unis would people recommend? (I’m aware of the difficulty I’m going to face so no need to arrogantly rub it in, please just advise me)

3- Is Manchester Met decent?

These are just what I need answers to but I’d appreciate any sort of advice from experienced individuals about anything they have notes on from this post!

Thank you

Look at Unis that are asking BBB - and also pick a couple of ABB choices.
There were several Unis that were asking ABB that ended up in Clearing this year that actually then accepted BBC - Sussex, Plymouth, Oxford Brookes, Kent etc.

Yes, contact MMU about applying - and Liverpool.
Go to their Open Days - and talk to their Admissions teams.

Hi,

1- Does anyone know if I could get into UoM or UoB through clearing with these grades, and if they are likelyto even have clearing for an LLB? Highly unlikely, UoM and UoB are reputable unis and LLB is always oversubsribed amongst RG unis. Also, most RG require the LNAT.

2- Which other respectable non RG unis would people recommend? (I’m aware of the difficulty I’m going toface so no need to arrogantly rub it in, please just advise me) Kent, SOAS, Leicester to anem a few.

3- Is Manchester Met decent? In my honest opinion, for LLB its below average (UoM LLB First year student).

My advice to you would be to take a gap year, enrol onto an Access to Law course and reapply to a RG uni (UoM).

I am a mature student and I got offers from UoM, Exeter, York and Sheffield. Albeit I achieved the equivalent of 3 A*-As at A-level, I did have mediocre GCSE. The access course will sufficiently prepare you for Uni and give you second chance to study at UoM.

Spend a year studying again and get into the Uni of your choice (UoM).

If you mean Clearing this year - its effectively over, and any 'good' Law Unis who had any spaces would have filled them on Results Day.

Thank you so much your answers are helpful! I’ll look into the Access Course

When you say “below average” what specifically are you talking about? the quality of the degree, the teaching, employability?

Also heard good things about SOAS

Thank you I’ve taken your advice and contacted MMU!
Liverpool seems like a good option - it ticks off a lot of my wishlist
