Advice on Tuition Fee loan (already got previous degree)

Hey guys, wondering if someone could help me. So I’ve got a BSC in sports therapy and I’m now doing a masters in chiropractic. Student finance have advised I can only get my maintenance loan. And then I am eligible for a tuition fee for my 3rd and 4th year. Can anyone understand why this may be and if this is correct?

Will I also get my maintenance loan for the entirety of the course!?

My current degree (chiropractic) is classed as an undergraduate and not a postgraduate too.
Hi Kg985,

What is the full name of the course you are studying?

Thanks,
Calum

It’s called masters of Chiropractic (MChiro) it’s 4 years
Thank you. Have you applied at all yet for any years of this course? Also, are you going to be receiving any NHS bursary/funding? Thanks, David

I’ve applied for my first year, I have been given the maintenance loan but told i can’t get the tuition fees until my 3rd and 4th year due to studying a previous degree. Am I eligible for any NHS bursary funding? I didn’t think I was with studying chiropractic. If I am eligible I’d definitely look into this if you can advise where to look.

Is it correct that I will receive funding for my 3rd and 4th year?
Hi there. Regarding the bursary you would have to speak to your University about this. As for the funding, this would be correct. Based on if you have had 3 years of funding already you would only be eligible for another 2 years doing our previous study calculation and these always go to the last years of your course. Thanks, David

Hi David, I will get in touch with my university regarding any burseries and thank you for clearing up my funding, it makes me feel better that I will still get it. Will I be eligible for the maintenance loan for the duration of the course too? I’ve already been accepted for my first year so assuming my other years will be fine.

Hi there. You're welcome, yes that's correct. You will still be eligible for Maintenance Loan for the duration of the course. Thanks again, David
