Hollys y12 gyg 🌸💗

Hiii I'm Holly and going into year 12 this year!

My a level courses: Grades I want:
Biology 🌴
Chemistry 🧪
Psychology 🧠

My gcse grades 🎓:
9- Biology +Sociology
8- Physics +Chemistry +Geography + English Lit
7- Photography +Maths (1 mark off an 8 -getting it remarked)
6- Statistics +English Language
5- Spanish(F)

My goals 🥼🔭:
- Going to Uni (preferably in my home town or commuting to another one)
- Would love to study a science based subject like biochem, biomed or biology
- Working for a pharmaceutical company is something I would like to do as a career but l'm not too sure yet and this could change!

Things I want to improve 🛠️:
- My organisation skills (my y11 bag was a mess)
- Doing my homework on time/ time management
- Talking and asking more questions in class
- Finding a revision technique that works for me
(I want to try online flashcards- Is anki or gizmo or Quizlet better??)

Chemistry will definately be the hardest for me as I struggled at gose a bit, so I will be updating you all on how that's going and the revision I am doing towards it (and the other two subjects)

Best of luck for year 12  I study biology and psychology as well :yep:

I use Anki and I find it really useful for making/reviewing my own flashcards. I use Quizlet when I'm looking for something specific (for example, explanations to a specific exam questions) as Quizlet has more variety of shared flashcards (from other users). I can't give an opinion on Gizmo as I haven't used it before, sorry!

For both psychology and biology I find flashcards, blurting and exam questions useful. I tend to update my revision resources after each lesson I have. Also, if I don't understand something I watch a video about it as soon as possible to make sure I'm not falling behind. Just make sure you're keeping on top of your work and you should be okay

Yeah it took me some time to wrap my head around how Anki works properly (I started using it in year 11). I wouldn't say I'm an expert on Anki but if you have any questions about it then feel me to ask me and I'll try to answer the best I can

Hii guys, I’ve finished my first two days of sixth form college now so I’ll update you all as to how it’s been!

Biology 🌴:
Loveee it so far, we’re learning biological molecules and have my first assessment in two weeks
- I had a free on Friday so I did my biology maths skills homework
- I’m also trying to find some aqa textbooks on vinted, does anyone have any suggestions on the best ones??
- I bought Olivia biology notes for year 1 and I LOVEEE them sm!

Chemistry 🧪:
We’re recapping a lot of gcse content atm so it isn’t too bad however I’m struggling with understanding the terminology (eg one mole of an atom)
- We got set homework on the a level electronic configuration but I’m finding it way too hard as we haven’t learned it yet!
- I found a website called dalton chemistry though which has been very helpful!
- Overall still not sure if I’ll be swapping chemistry to another subject, I’m gonna see how the next few weeks go.

Psychology 🧠:
I’ve had two lessons but haven’t started any content yet so I can’t really say if I like it or not yet haha! I loveee my seating plan though and the people around me are very friendly.
- I’ve printed out booklets for in class called essentials of psychology and social psychology
- I’m going to buy some dividers for my folders as I have a folder check on Friday!

I’ll update you guys next week as to how it goes! 🌸💗
