GYG - Sleepless-italy edition 💕

Hello everyone!

This is my Grow Your Grades Sleepless-italy edition. I have decided to join in this time around although I can say I'm not very good at revision and I have very limited time to revise. I will update when I can although I can't promise it being consistent!

If you're still reading and willing, thank you!
My name is Ash and I am a year 13 student trying to get good grades! I do Geography (CIE), Maths (WJEC) and English Literature (Edexcel). In my AS results I got A for maths and B for geography and in my mock lit I got a D. I'm not happy with lit and geography and hope to get those a lot higher.

Let me know if you have any notes or tips on my GYG as I have never done this before. Tips on revision etc will also be welcomed.
Thank you 💕

This looks like a nice gyg
watching
my main tip is to write down exactly what you've studied for each subject as you do it, then type it all out at the end of ur study day. and to keep the entries short, but not too short, for ✨engagement✨
best of luck! 🍀

Day 1 - Friday 6/9/24

Hi! Today was a pretty confusing today plus a fire alarm :headfire:! It was all good though, not an actual fire.
Today I diiiddd...

UCAS for about an hour

Two short geography sessions

Lesson 1 - Preparing for an Earthquake +Making an earthquake proof house out of marshmallows and spaghetti

Lesson 2 - Nonrenewable case study USA for Oil

Talked to a friend about universities

Made a massive spreadsheet with every uni that does Geography, the ranking (UK and Geography), hours from home and student satisfaction. Will print it now and then go home.

Thanks for reading todays and I will update you when I can 💕

Saturday 7/9/24

Today I played a hockey match which was very hot as it was 21 degrees with full sun and little wind. It was hard and hot but we won and I helped score a goal

I then recovered for a while and then got geography homework done which was researching current events in the news. I think I had to collect twenty or more and it took an hour and a half.

Last night I finished the university spreadsheet by adding if it was campus or city, grade boundaries and if it was Russell group. It took a long time but I finished it with a total of 67 universities to pick from.. I need to print it and then start working on that on Monday.

I hope to get an update out for equipment and my future ideas and plans.
Thanks 💕

EDIT LATER THAT NIGHT
Soo I have just completed the second geography piece of homework and have dusted that off. Tomorrow will be a maths day! How much I get done depends on my friends (its really nice where I live at the moment) and how I feel (pretty exhausted haha)

Thank you soo much! I wish you luck as well in whatever you're doing
My Future Plans/Grades

Hi! So I think I should specify this...
I want to go to University for the Physical Geography F800 course. I'm not sure whether to do one or two years yet. I haven't chosen any universities yet as I still need to look properly into it. I am fairly interested in Lancaster though I am not certain at all yet.
I am aiming to get lowest B,B,B at A level. What I'm aiming for is A,A,B I think. At AS I got A,B and then D in my mock. I also have a few UCAS points from ABRSM grades. I just need to get my literature grades up. I have asked my teachers for advice as to why my mock went so wrong and if anyone has any advice, it would be welcomed

Thanks 💕

Thank you so much!!!
I'm hoping so. I'm hoping the teachers will be able to give me advice which I can work on and maybe I could get a tutor to work on it.

yes that would be very helpful, make sure to ask them questions too if you find anything confusing
Best of luck for Year 13! I'm in Year 13 as well :yep: I'm looking forward to seeing your progress on here

Sunday 8/9/24

So last night as I was looking at unis I realised even if I wanted to go to Oxbridge, they don't offer my course at all.. which feels a bit disappointing even if I didn't want to go really. I was kinda surprised as well. I'm looking at physical geography BSc but they only offer BA. Oh well. Also one of my friends realised he has to pay 59k per year for his university course which is absolutely insane. That's 177k for three years where I would pay 27k for three. :eek3:

Today I did my maths homework on proof which took me about half an hour and might go to the shops to get a new homework diary for the coming year. Might take a bit of a chill day as the stress is kinda catching up on me a bit.

I have seen other GYG where they say stress levels, productivity, stuff like that so I might start doing that as well

Thanks 💕

EDIT IN AFTERNOON

I wrote my third draft for UCAS and hope to show it to my tutors tomorrow. It is 500 ish over the word count but at least it's written and done.
I'm now going to read a book to support my geography course and learning.

EDIT IN EVENING

I have worked on my book which I am reading and making notes on it. It took so long. It took from 2-6 with an hour break and then 7-8. To do 63 pages... Admittedly I was distracted but still. I read about Russia and China and started the USA section. If you're interested it's Prisoners of Geography by Tim Marshall

Hello! Today was a pretty busy day but it was ok. Got a bit of a headache but thats to be expected

Today I diiiiddd

Tutor I worked on my personal statement and got it to 4,056 which is only 56 over

English literature I started learning about the context behind Othello and my friend and I focused on Cyprus and Venice and next week we will share our presentations to each other

Maths we started learning about Radians and started doing questions on it - it was very hard

One of my friends and I started working on the maths homework during the private and then after-school I worked on it more.

Then I worked on picking my unis by giving it a score for different categories - so far I've done how far it is and if it's campus or city. Left school at 5 o clock as I have piano lessons at 6.

I think I'll start working on my personal statement again until piano and then call it a day.

Productivity - 9/10
Stress - 7/10

Thanks 💕
