HPQ stands for the Higher Project Qualification. It is an independent research project that students can take alongside their GCSEs.
The HPQ allows students to choose a topic of personal interest, conduct research, and create a final project, which could be a report, presentation, or artifact. It helps develop skills like critical thinking, research, and time management, and can be particularly useful in preparing students for further education or work. The HPQ is equivalent to half a GCSE.
Oh it's so relieving seeing fellow yr 11's here because I am so stressed for this year oh my god ;-; what is everyone aiming for?? <3

I'm in year 12 now, but I used the website 'physics and maths tutor' loads to make mind maps for science as they have the topics for each paper clearly listed with a range of revision resources for each. It also helped me to look through the topics and write down any parts I knew would need extra revision on, as the specific areas are listed (eg: the nervous system). Then, when I wanted to revise Chem paper 2, I could pick a topic and do everything i didn't know within that topic as I had a list. It also helped with not missing any content from revision or when I only wanted to do 10 minutes worth. Sorry if that was worded confusingly but check out the physics and maths tutor website and you'll see what I mean. They have loads of great english stuff too!

Hi, I'm now an A-Level student that got all 9s and 8s in my GCSEs. If you're ever looking for either general or subject specific advice, you can post on my AMA (ask me anything thread). Link: here

Literally actually logged in for the first time, cuz it was the first time I’d felt like replying. Anyways for now I’ll give some advice.

Maths: STICK to maths genie, you literally need nothing else.

1.

Do a past paper, no cheating, then mark and highlight weak spots.

2.

Go to mathgenie, find the topic, watch the video, answer attached questions. Mark.

3.

Then repeat both steps till you get the higher end of your marks!

Computer Science: If your exam board is OCR, there’s this really good text book, it’s small summarises everything very easily(U1 and first half U2) otherwise look on teach-ict, if your school has a login or even Isaac computer science, when you don’t understand something, go watch Craig and Dave on YouTube. Computer Science content is easy once you understand the basic components and their functions. Make flash cards and quiz yourself, also stick hard to the specification and DO NOT learn anything extra. I would give more detail, if there was a platform I could send to you attachments.

That text book, btw what’s your exam board? Those flash cards will do, but I advise you to try to write your own flash cards, because A: if you write it in ur wording you’ll understand better and B: If you write them by hand, you’ll be able to remember more. Personally I had my own purple exercise book, in which I wrote all my summary notes in by topic. It doesn’t have to be too neat, as long as you can read it, highlight if you want, what I found for me was variations (small) in my handwriting, helped a lot.

Also do you have the specification?/ what is your specification. And how far in are you in the content/ which topics are you confident in?

Oh yh i have that book. I was talking about that one. Yeah I'll try. Did you do any mind maps? Bcuz apparently it helps to make mind maps for computer science. But I hate making mind maps especially for loads of content. My exam board for computer science is OCR.

Well we doing SQL. There was a topic before that we are doing that. My teacher did it like that. And for theory we finished networking I think....I'm not sure I forgot kinda. I have computer science tmmro so I'll see then.
Well idk what I'm confident in. And no I don't think I do have the specs. I might but I'll have to check.

Nah I got a 9 and never did any mind maps I just crammed and reduced notes into a single A2 sheet per topic. For networks tho it was double sided, also search up the specification and stick to that
