Urgent help with appeal

I need urgent advice about submitting an appeal.
I am a final year student and I just got my award I am unhappy with it because I was expecting to be able to take my exams instead of being awarded a degree.
I was unwell during the final year exams so I had to postponed them to the summer reassessment but I still couldn't sit them
I submitted all my evidence and ECs and I had help from student advice team and I was hoping they would allow me to finish them next year.
I've had a couple of resit years because I had various serious circumstances and it seems like I have reached a limit I was not aware of, time of study. I have been at uni for 5 years so it seems like I've run out.
Academic advisor says to appeal to ask for another supplementary year to be allowed to sit my final exams.
One of my friends has said that she has met a couple of people that were allowed to go the above study limits by asking to sit without attendance.
Has anybody else been in my situation or has any idea of what to do?
I've had very good reasons to why I am in the situation I'm at but I don't know what to do.

Your academic advisor has advised you to "appeal to ask for another supplementary year to be allowed to sit my final exams." Your friend has provided anecdotal evidence of others making such an appeal successfully.

You're clearly not happy with whatever you've been awarded. So why would you not want to follow that advice?

I plan on following the advice but I have never appealed before and I wanted to see if anybody else had been in my situation and been successful.
I thought maybe someone could add something else that could be useful?
