I am going into second year at LSE studying Politics and Econ. While my degree isn't the most numerate I hope to go into graduate actuarial roles. (My degree is 55-60% maths/stats and I got A* in A-Level Maths).
I am wondering how important second year internships are to securing actuarial grad roles (as compared to other financial jobs e.g., IB) and if so, would I be able to get onto one with my degree. Another potential problem is that I have no prior financial work experience (no spring weeks/summer internship in first year), will this disadvantage me in this year's application cycle?
Another option I have is an MSc in Actuarial Science (8.5k tuition). The course leader told me my degree would be fine to apply, and it would give me exemptions in addition to introductory actuarial skills. Is this a good alternative if I cannot secure a summer internship?
