Russian optional module

Hi, I’m starting my chemistry degree this September and I am considering taking beginner Russian as an optional module in year 1. I’m not sure if this will be too difficult to manage or even worth it as I can’t take languages past year 2 in my course.
For context I know a decent amount of bulgarian so am already familiar with the cyrillic alphabet and a couple of really basic Russian words.
Advice/ opinions would be appreciated 👍

If it's the very beginners module (1A), then you'll be taught assuming you have no prior knowledge or exposure of the language. You'll already have a bit of a step up as you're familiar with the alphabet and a few words

It is very beginners, it even says the exit level is 1A, so that’s reassuring, thank you. I’m stuck between either taking this or a stage 2 french module (start A1, exit A2), as I took French GCSE and did well.
At the same time I kind of want to do something different but also I feel like building on a language I already know a bit of will be a better use of my time? But I still want to make sure my main focus is on the chemistry part of my course so I’d want something manageable. Sorry if that was a bit rambly, I’m quite stuck lol.

You'd probably do fine at either! I did a french 1A module last year, and it taught me right from the basics. If you want to try something new, I'd go for it!
